AUSTRALIAN INHERITED EYE DISEASE REGISTRY & DNA BANK

Help visually impaired Australians today!

Who is AIRDR?

The Australian Inherited Retinal Disease Registry and DNA Bank (AIRDR) is based at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, Western Australia.

What they do throughout Australia

The AIRDR provide essential genetic diagnoses to doctors on behalf of patients throughout Australia.  This analysis is free of charge for both doctors and patients and is crucial for the best treatment outcomes for the patient.

Blindness in Australia

Inherited retinal disease is the main cause of blindness in children and adult Australians. Approximately 15,000 Australians currently live with this disease and nearly every day an Australian is newly diagnosed with an inherited retinal disease.

How you can make a difference

There is no Medicare rebate applicable to this service, so this work relies heavily on philanthropic donor support.

With your ongoing support, the AIRDR team will be able to continue to genetically diagnose inherited retinal disease for these patients, helping facilitate sight-saving treatments and early identification of more widespread genetic disease.

Philanthropic benefits to you

As part of this collaboration with the Foundation, your entire donation goes directly to the AIRDR, with no fees or costs to you.

You’ll receive:

  • a certificate of appreciation for your philanthropic efforts,
  • tax receipts and a
  • copy of the AIRDR annual report, acknowledging your ongoing support.

How will your gift be managed?

Your monthly donation will be managed by Charlies Foundation for Research, on behalf of the AIRDR.
